All-new Mazda5 replaces both the Premacy and the MPV in the UK and is described by the company as a '6+1' seater. It joins the growing range of compact MPVs with seven-seat accommodation when needed, but stands out as the only one to date that offers sliding rear passenger doors. The Mazda3-based car is also rare in that it offers a good drive for an MPV. Diesels, similar to those found in the Mazda6 offer exceptional torque outputs although they seem to underperform on fuel consumption. Petrol models, however, are lively and refined and the car seems a much stronger prospect than either the old Premacy or MPV models.
