Mazda MX-5 (05 on) - Review

The entry-level 1.8-litre model comes with electric windows and a four speaker CD player while the 2.0-litre model also gets side airbags along with traction and stability control. Options packs are available on both models and include extras such as a cloth rather than vinyl roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and a 6 CD changer. A 2.0-litre Sport model is also available which gets the six-speed gearbox, leather seats, 17-inch alloy wheels and sports suspension while Roadster Coupe models have an automated folding roof and an enhanced specification that includes climate control and iPod compatibility. The trim levels were upgraded in 2009 and every model now comes with a leather trimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake, alloy wheels, plus an auxiliary input for the stereo. 2.0i SE models feature dynamic stability control (DSC), side airbags and a limited slip differential (apart from PowerShift models) while 2.0i Sport Tech models get new 17-inch alloys, climate control, cruise control, a Bose stereo with a six CD changer and Bluetooth. The PowerShift models are similar to Sport models but come with the automatic gearbox and aren't fitted with a limited slip differential or the uprated dampers.
