Mazda Premacy (99-04) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Premacy has never really threatened the sales of the Renault Scenic or Citroën Xsara Picasso. The current version does little to change that. A 130bhp 2.0-litre engine adds pace to higher-spec versions, and there's a Sport model with spoilers and skirts.

Comfort

Too much wind and road noise, while the diesels create far too much din, although the petrols are better. Plenty of legroom for the front passenger.

Practicality

Plenty of space, with an airy feel to the cabin, good visibility all round and comfortable seats. Premacy is a pleasant place to be on longer trips. Interior trim quality could be better.

Behind the wheel

Controls are well placed and straightforward to use, but the driving position could be improved with a steering wheel that adjusts for reach.
