Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon (93-00) - Review

This excellent compact executive saloon and estate range is many people's introduction to Mercedes-Benz ownership. High standards of engineering, finish and driver satisfaction don't come cheaply, but C-Class has become common, with prices as low as £5000 for early models. Whether it merits paying a premium over German rivals such as Audi and BMW is really a question of how one values prestige.

Buying used

Avoid poorly maintained examples - these are likely to be expensive in the long run. Most offer buyers a taste of high build quality and prestige at a relatively affordable price. Don't buy one if you cant afford to maintain it.

Selling

Popular on the used market but needs to be in excellent condition - visible imperfections will put punters off and are worth remedying to achieve best sale.
