Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG (04-10) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 13 March 2007 Last Updated: 20 April 2009 Last time the Mercedes-Benz SLK received the AMG treatment, it was fitted with a supercharged 3.2-litre V6 engine. The second-generation gets a substantially larger V8. It may be badged 55 but it actually uses a normally aspirated 5.4-litre engine with 360bhp. However, thanks to the light weight of the roadster, it has superb acceleration and pace, making it great fun to drive. The extra AMG body kit and larger wheels suit the SLK shape well and it also has some exquisite detailing inside, while build quality is second to none. It's expensive to run, but as the ultimate SLK, it's a superb convertible. 4 out of 5 Other Mercedes-Benz reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 3.5 out of 5 BMW Z4 M (06-08) Awesome engine and performance, dramatic looks, well built Heavy clutch and gear change, cramped cabin, snappy throttle response, stiff ride Read full review 5 out of 5 Porsche Boxster (04-11) Wonderful engines, intoxicating driving experience, superbly balanced, useful boot space Poor standard equipment levels Read full review 4 out of 5 Audi TT RS (09 on) Superb performance, characterful five-cylinder engine, quattro four-wheel drive reassurance, top quality interior Fidgety ride, doesn't feel as special as other RS models Read full review Find other convertible cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
