Summary****-

  • High performance with strong fuel economy and low emissions, good ride comfort as well as sharp handling
  • Hatchback models aren't very spacious for passengers or luggage

In 2008 John Cooper Works became MINI's equivalent of BMW's M Division. Therefore any MINI wearing the John Cooper Works (JCW) badge would be as extreme an interpretation of the standard car as a BMW M5 is compared to a standard 5-Series. While the JCW uses the same basic engine as the Cooper S there are modifications - taken from the MINI Challenge single-make series race car - resulting in substantially greater power. There are further changes to the suspension, brakes and transmission making the JCW supremely driver focussed. Available in standard hatchback or Clubman estate bodystyles, it also features more aggressive styling than other MINIs to help it stand out from the rest of the range.
