Overview

The Lancer estate is a straightforward proposition. There isn’t much choice in terms of trim and engine options and it doesn’t offer much in the way of excitement either visually or dynamically, but it is a cheap-ish, practical, family-sized car. It’s well spec’d in terms of equipment and ought to be reliable, but perhaps the best thing about this car is what it isn’t.

This is not an ultra high performance rally weapon with eye-popping body modifications, but this is the toad that once kissed by Mitsubishi Racing becomes the iconic EVO IX. Look at one as an alternative to a used Ford Focus for those who prefer a new car.
