Nissan 350Z Roadster (05-10) - Review

The convertible version of the 350Z - known as the Roadster - retains the rewarding driving characteristics of the coupe model along with the same punchy engine, but features an electrically-folding fabric roof which retracts in just 20 seconds. The model was actually developed to be a convertible as well as a coupe from the start and as a result it drives just as well with virtually no body shake, even over rough roads. Like the coupe it is also great value for money while changes in 2006 included more engine power and improved interior quality. It was upgraded again in 2007 with an extensively modified engine identified by a bulging bonnet.

Buying used

The Roadster isn't as common as the coupe on the second hand market, but there is still a good choice of cars and most tend to be the higher specification GT models. If you can afford it, aim for a revised model (from April 2006) which will have a better quality interior. Avoid any grey imports though. They may seem cheap but have an inferior specification compared to UK cars and won't be worth as much when you come to sell on.

Selling

Demand for the 350Z will always be high, especially for those after an affordable way into sports cars. Although the later cars will be desirable for their extra kit and superior finish, the earlier cars will be very accessible and should attract considerable interest. Enthusiasts may prefer the coupe, but the convertible version is just as desirable and there are fewer around.
