Nissan Almera Tino (00-05) - Review

Review by Parkers on
This Almera hatchback spin-off follows in the same vein as Scenic, Picasso and Zafira. Like most models in this class, it's practical, roomy and fits five with ease. It's well equipped and very user friendly and the ride is good, but there's too much bodyroll when cornering. The steering is precise and manual models have a slick gearchange.

Performance

Tino gets three powerplants: a 115 bhp 1.8 and 110 and 135 bhp 2.2 turbodiesels. The 1.8 is a little unrefined and will struggle with a full complement of passengers. The 135 bhp 2.2 is the best engine, but commands a hefty premium.

Handling

More car-like handling than most midi-MPVs (but that is because it's essentially a tall estate car). Gearbox feels slick; power-assisted steering is precise and well-weighted. The ride is supple on all but the most bumpy of surfaces, but there's too much bodyroll.
