Nissan X-Trail (01-07) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Last Updated: 05 April 2007
X-Trail is better in most areas than most of its rivals. It goes up against the Honda's CR-V and Land Rover's Freelander in the soft-roader category. It cuts the mustard against both of them on the road and has a good range of engines and trim levels. Standard equipment could be better for the price (but there again, so could that of its rivals).

Safety

The X-Trail feels sturdily built and this is supported by its four-star Euro NCAP rating – very good for its age. All models get ABS, driver and passenger airbags, plus Sport and SE have side airbags, too. On the safety front, remote central locking, an anti-hijack feature and an immobiliser are all standard, as is an ultrasonic alarm on Sport and SE models.

Reliability

Nissan has an enviable reputation for reliability and we'd be surprised if X-Trail let you down. Interior is sturdily built and trim shouldn't work loose. Owners submitting reviews to parkers.co.uk have reported few problems aside from a couple of warranty recalls.
