Summary

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
I fancied an upgrade from a VW, but still didn't want to leave the VAG stable!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it's a quality hatchback with great looks (especially in black).

Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, but either the 1.8 TFSi or 2.0 TFSi. The 2.0 FSi (now discontinued) just doesn't have quite enough poke for my liking. I didn't want a diesel, as my wife already has one.

What are you likely to buy next?
Not in the market currently.

Buying experience

3 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
£10,300

When did you buy the car?
July 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?
I live in Surrey and bought the car from Tyneside Audi. It was four years old when I purchased it, and I think I saved about £1.5K over local Surrey Audi dealer prices.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Fancied an upgrade from my VW Polo!

What was the dealer like?
Neither spectacular or disappointing.

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
The 150 bhp 2.0 FSi engine gives adaquate performance. It's a marked improvement over the 1.6/1.6 FSi, but you need to make lots of gear changes to get the best out of the engine (which is suprisingly free-reving). I only run it on Shell V-Power petrol. It seems to like the high octane juice! I have the 'Sport' version with the stiffer/lower shocks, so it handles very well indeed. There isn't a great deal of feedback from the steering however.

What's it like to park?
I struggle to park it. It could really do with reverse parking sensors.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
A coil pack (ignition) failed causing a nasty misfire, and it developed an oil leak (sump gasket). Both happened within a month of ownership, and Tyneside Audi paid for the necessary repairs.

What's most practical about your car?
the five door version was essential for me with a child. The boot is a good size as well.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
XCarLink mp3 player, but this was installed by me.
