Summary

2 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
It should say I care enough about my children to put them in a big safe car (I'd put them in a Chieftan tank if I could). There are some people who think it's environmentally bad but because it does car share for the school run its actually doing the job of 2 cars day to day.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
those who have expressed an opinion are impressed by it.

Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Even though its a lovely car to drive, it's had too many faults and is more expensive to run than I would have expected. On normal driving it gets through a full set of tyres every 10,000 miles. Too expensive! Also the franchised dealers are pretty unhelpful - I get better treatment from the dealers for other manufacturers. I had high expectations from this purchase and they have not been met.

What are you likely to buy next?
too early to say. Not an Audi.

Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise

Did you buy this car new?
New

What price did you pay?
£39,000

When did you buy the car?
April 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?
So-so, but not many discounts around at the time.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
7 seats, luxury marque and good safety

What was the dealer like?
Awful. Very poor at communicating, especially about delivery delay when I had specified the importance since my previous (lease) car was being returned at a particular date. Eventually after much difficulty did provide a temporary car to bridge the gap.

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
It's normally very smooth and easy to drive. There's ample power from the 3.0 TDI engine. A good comfortable cruiser when out on the motorway.

What's it like to park?
Parking spaces in the UK are ridiculously tight unless its a parent/child space. The Q7 is a pretty big car but is very manoevrable. The problem is getting in and out of the car in a tight space and what the person who parks next to you is going to do to your paintwork.

Have you had any problems with the car?
the car has had several faults including the engine management system going into emergency mode without apparent cause.

What's most practical about your car?
7 seats as the car has to ferry several children to school every day.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Nothing in particular. it is quite well equipped though.
