What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
As a modern BMW, it represents 'cool' and a car for the young urban professional man/women. Aside from that, they have criticised it for its lack of rear seating space.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. Apart from certain things going wrong I would definitely buy another 1 Series. However, I would like a coupe next.
What are you likely to buy next?
Either a 2-Series Cabriolet or a 4 Series Coupe.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Got a very good deal. Managed to get free GAP insurance and a BMW DAB retro fit with the car.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
To treat myself for graduating from university.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent. I test drove two 116's and they encouraged me to take my time and go home and even offered to reserve it for up to 24 hours.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Excellent. The car is very engaging on certain roads and the acceleration is very crisp. I enjoy driving this car no matter if the journey is short or long.
What's it like to park?
Servotronic steering helps and excellent visibility.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Quite a few things. A month after I bought the car, it suffered from power loss and this was caused by one of the four cylinders to malfunction. Then, the car developed a fault with the exhaust emissions system where black smoke was puffing out over 2500 rpm- which I noticed when driving on the motorway. Lastly, the car suffered from a leaking coolant which was caused by a leaking hose pipe. These were all covered by the BMW warranty.
What's most practical about your car?
The boot space is helpful for shopping and golf clubs.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
ECO Pro mode. It does definitely work and saved me quite a few bob on fuel.
