    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Absolutely crazy value, average price £1000-£1500 for a car that's this cool. Definitely recommended over any BMW. Insurance high but worth it.

    Costs

Never needed to do anything except fill the tank. Approx 37mpg with enthusiastic driving. Absolute BARGAIN.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Super handling, a genuine joy. Masses of grip, tight and responsive steering, doesn't slide or protest on corners a driver's car no matter what they say.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not exactly a slouch with masses of torque but too big to challenge much beyond a Sierra 1.6 Ghia. Handling electric, the car's on rails, a joy even when you're in a bad mood. Handling capability cannot be over-emphasised.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Watch the suspension - if even one pipe goes you're in big trouble. Also watch for hissing pumps, no problem but sounds annoying. Make sure has a full history OR have a massive test drive and check all suspension positions.

Far cooler than the Escorts and Astras my mates were driving. An individual choice, and one you will not regret. Better than bland Mondeos and 3 series of the same era.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Sweet heaven. A flying carpet which cossets and loves you. Better than my living-room.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Remote central locking, deadlocks, but nobody nicks Xantias.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

    Did it myself.
