Other Ford Focus (2011 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

I don't know. Maybe someone who wants a reliable car with lots of gadgets.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They all seem to like it, I'm getting compliments from everyone in the village.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Although it's a very nice car, I would probably not go for the same car twice. Having said that, the 2.0L TDCi would be temping, or perhaps an ST.

What are you likely to buy next?

Probably something along the lines of an Audi A3, or perhaps a BMW 320d. Certainly something with more power but still good on fuel.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    September 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

The price seemed about right for the mileage, but I was able to extend the warranty they offered from 6 months to 12 months.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted something good on fuel, but with a bit of power. I have liked Focuses since owning a Mk1 Focus last year.

    What was the dealer like?

There was a nice selection of cars, the dealer that I dealt with was very helpful and patient as I enquired about the specifications of many of the cars. He let me take my car of choice (the Focus) for a test drive without any hassle.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very nice. I would say that it's not the most fun to drive, and some more power would be great, but it gives a very nice smooth drive. The steering is sharp, and the car has little body roll around corners.

    What's it like to park?

It actually took a bit of getting used to at first, despite the fact that my previous car was significantly larger. And I was at first slightly disappointed that it did not have parking sensors. However after getting used to it, it's not a problem to park, and the light steering makes it effortless to maneuver.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing yet, although I've only had it for a few weeks. But anything that does will be covered under the warranty offered by the independent dealer.

What's most practical about your car?

It's got a decent sized boot, although I'm not really using it at the moment. The car's very good on fuel.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

It's great to be able to see both current and average MPG figures using the trip computer. The cruise control is very nice for duel-carriageway/motorway driving. I seems to save on the fuel as well because you maintain a constant speed. The duel-zone climate control is also very nice. I've been making great use out of this as I enjoy a nice cool and fresh environment while driving, while my passengers usually prefer to blast the heating on.
