Other Kia Ceed (2007 - 2012) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

The Ceed is a good looking car that gives little away to a Focus/GolfAstra but model for model is better equipped if a little cheap looking in the interior plastics department.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Quite happy to be seen in it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would not buy this model again as it is discontinued and the new Ceed has lost it's price advantage so I guess I would start again with the decision.

What are you likely to buy next?

A similar 1.6 petrol auto hatch with an eye on value for money.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,500

When did you buy the car?

    July 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

The deal was reasonable but because I did not have an alternative vehicle to look at the dealer knew I would accept it. He must have been pleased because he gave me some nice mats 'free gratis'.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

We need an automatic and our previous 1.9 turbo diesel hatch was spending too much time in traffic and required the particle filter regenerating twice. Thus we returned to a 1.6 petrol car and the Kia specification and warranty offered good value and peace of mind.

    What was the dealer like?

I had the usual pleasant conversation with the salesman who then retired to the hidden dungeon to meet the sales manager in private who produced the deal (take it or leave it in my case).

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

. On the move the engine is very quiet as the gearbox changes up very quickly to preserve fuel. . Overall performance is acceptable but sometimes you have to floor the accelerator to produce proper kick . .The ride is quite firm around town but acceptable and very smooth on the open road. The electric power steering is a little odd around the straightahead position. This shows itself more on the motorways where constant minor correction is needed to keep going in a straight line (best not to nod off). The front seats have proved to be spot on with height and lumbar support available on both the drivers and passengers seats, . The rear bench, whilst roomy, is quite hard Economy is usually about 34/35mpg .

    What's it like to park?

It is very easy to park with the aforementioned electric power steering being very light. Visibility is good but a little resticted by the heavy C pillars at the rear, (hence the parking sensors).

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

One rear damper replaced. Air con re gassed.

What's most practical about your car?

It is a compact hatch but is roomy enough to carry 5 including myself and my son both (6'3") Hence the name CeeD as it staddles both segments.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Cruise control (standard) Rear parking sensors (fitted by us at extra cost but then we are in our sixties so money well spent).
