Summary

5 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
Practical - someone for all seasons.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Some say its too large - but even some small car models that started off small have increased in size as the model revamps are introduced, e.g, Corsas, Fiestas etc.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, but probably go for the newer Discovery 4.

What are you likely to buy next?
Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE.

Buying experience

5 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
£32,000

When did you buy the car?
January 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?
I thought so, it was their annual 'Sale' - also it was just before all the stigma against 4x4's had eased off. The two recently bad winters certainly raised the profile and monetary value of most 4x4 vehicles, especially Land Rovers. The Discovery 3 HSE TDV6 I purchased in the end had only covered 6,000 miles form new.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Fed up with the Mercedes Benz S-class S320CDi I had at the time being useless in snow and ice.

What was the dealer like?
Excellent - gave me more than I expected for the Mercedes Benz S320 CDi I was part-exchanging.

Superb - especially motorways. Excellent on minor roads.

What's it like to park?
Very good for a large vehicle - the parking sensors front and rear are essential though.

Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?
To date - nothing too serious - some quirky/unaccountable electronic problems at times that appear to right themselves!

What's most practical about your car?
Space, proper seating for 7 adults, superb driving position - a go anywhere at any time vehicle.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The built-in sat.nav - dipping wing mirrors when reverse selected (can be overridden if required) - superb I.C.E - heated seats for all front and rear occupants.
