Other Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

    Nothing at all.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It's like a tardis - average on the outside, but huge inside. Comfy seats too.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. Peugeot have gone down-hill since the 106, and will be sticking to VW in future.

What are you likely to buy next?

Volkswagen Golf 1.9 SE TDI 2005.

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,150

When did you buy the car?

    October 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes - this model is high in demand due to its cheap running costs - travelled further from home to get a good deal (they sell for £1500-£1700 down South).

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

60mpg, cheap Insurance, £30 Tax, large interior.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

Not bad for a cheap run-around- and for a 1.4 diesel engine, but it lacks power (especially compared to my old VW Polo 1.9), slow off the mark unless you rev to the floor, and it gets blown around on motorways on a windy day.

    What's it like to park?

Not great. Turning circle isn't amazing, and the immensely long bonnet takes some getting used to.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Had an ABS fault- the ABS sensor was faulty too, so it drained the battery many times making me need to jump-start it every few days until it was fixed. Boot lock usually doesn't want to shut properly, so have to slam it a few times. Due to the weight of the car and it not having traction control, I came close to spinning a full 360 going 20mph round a corner (even though tyres were new). Gears are stiff and clunky (in my 307 anyway), barely ever wants to go into 1st.

What's most practical about your car?

The size is massive inside - with folding seats too, I've fitted a single bed and mattress inside without any trouble. Also so cheap to run.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Audio remote, sunglass compartment in ceiling, Aircon.
