  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Student who drives a cheap runaround, but surprises many people on how nippy it is.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Seem to all like it, some friends mock it as a small engine diesel, most of those then eat their words after joining me for a drive, or them trying to follow me.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. I used to have the 65bhp diesel clio, the 100bhp is even better. Can't recommend it enough.

What are you likely to buy next?

Seat Leon FR TDI, 170bhp diesel, that gets 50mpg. Seen reviews, seems like a faster and bigger version of the clio.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,000

When did you buy the car?

    April 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Paid £2000, travelled 400 miles (Cornwall to Yorkshire) to get it for that price, worth every penny. Other similar spec ones going for £2500+.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Previously owned the 65bhp dynamique clio, loved it but fancied a faster one.

    What was the dealer like?

Good, knocked £200 off the price for the travel getting there.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great fun for a small engined diesel. Pulls so easy up hills, and is effortless to drive. I got it remapped after having it for 6 months (to 130 bhp), as it's a great little pocket rocket, even before the remap.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy, great visibility, steering is so light you could do it with one finger.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

One rear wheel bearing and brake pads (both wear and tear). I've also cleaned the EGR valve a few times (very easy 20 minute job), mainly because if they get clogged, performance drops.

What's most practical about your car?

If I drive really carefully I can get 70 mpg! Driving normally gets 60 mpg easy. Plus £30 a year to tax, and dirt cheap insurance thanks to the 8v engine, rather than a 16v engine in most other small cars.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The trip computer is very useful, plus the dynamique seats are comfy on a long drive, yet hold you in the seat well.
