Car went to Renault to find out cause of smell. One Renault dealership told me one thing and the other bigger dealership disputed it, so wait and see.

Strange smell when under load, mixture of hot rubber and sulphur. Replaced cat and still have smell. Car on 98k miles when cat went, clutch will need replacing soon. No other problems. Only does 23.9mpg around town, so a bit thirsty.
