Other Saab 9-3 (2002 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Hopefully that you don't follow the crowd. BMW, Audi and Mercedes convertibles are two-a-penny, the Saab is that little bit different especially the V6.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

I think it is pretty universally liked by all.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would, sadly Saab are no longer with us so it'll be a challenge finding another low mileage car when it is time to change again. I will certainly try.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not changing for a while, when I do probably same again if I can find one if not probably a 911.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £17,000

When did you buy the car?

    February 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

I don't think I did particularly but there aren't many of this specific model around so I didn't mind too much.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I've owned two 9-3 Convertibles previously and liked them. I was specifically looking for the best specification I could find and the 2.8 seemed to be it.

    What was the dealer like?

Adequate but not much more than that.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very good. Being front wheel drive it doesn't cope as well as others when you're pushing on round the bends but for sensible day to day use it exceeds most expectations. The engine is extremely strong, 40mph - 130mph it absolutely flies.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy. Sensors on the back and a good view of the front.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing at all. It feels pretty well screwed together and I like the overall quality of the components and materials. This is the third 9-3 convertible I've owned and have never had a problem with any of them.

What's most practical about your car?

Not much really. The back seats have poor legroom and it is expensive to run, but I didn't buy it for practicality so I don't think that matters.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Lots! Built-in sat nav is very good, roof mechanism is excellent, electric memory seats are good too.
