Subaru Forester 2.0 AWD S-Turbo 5d (2002/52) - Owner Review

decent boot with room for dog, a few logs, a chainsaw and other tools (just paid £40 to Subaru dealer for proper boot liner), but overall the car isn't too big.

Summary

4 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
whatever it says, it says it quietly.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
family love it. neighbours thinking of getting one to replace their MPV.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. Great combination of performance with practicality.

What are you likely to buy next?
To early to say. But it will probably be another Subaru, or at least something Japanese.

Buying experience

4 out of 5

Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent

Did you buy this car new?
Used

What price did you pay?
-

When did you buy the car?
March 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?
A fair deal. Not cheap but not a rip off either.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted something fun to drive on the road that I could take into the woods and load up with logs; or fill with family and camping gear. Great accelleration.

What was the dealer like?
Very good. A genuinely decent 'one-man-band' dealer. A pleasure to do business with. (brilliantcars.co.uk)

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
acceleration is better than the Celica GT that it has replaced. Easy to go too fast so keep your eye on the speedo. Don't worry about comments saying use Super Unleaded, so long as it's 95 RON or above it's OK (i.e. basic cheapo Sainsbury's petrol is fine). The Super Unleaded refers to mainland EU where that means 95 RON and 'normal' unleaded is less than 95 RON. I've got 28 mpg, but should get 30 if I'm more steady.

What's it like to park?
No problem once you get used to it. At 1st it feels bigger than it is.

Living with it

4 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
No. Occasionaly the trim creaks.

What's most practical about your car?
decent boot with room for dog, a few logs, a chainsaw and other tools (just paid £40 to Subaru dealer for proper boot liner), but overall the car isn't too big.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
can't choose just 1. Currently it's heated seats. In summer it'll be the large sunroof; or the cup holders that hold the cup in front of the air vent so the air-con keeps your Tango cold.
