  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Common as pennies, so value soon dropped off, but that doesn't bother us. We run our cars for years. Just traded it in for £250.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Cheap for parts, cheap for servicing, 9000 mile intervals. Never used dealers, local garage found it easy. A bit thirsty (though not as bad as our new Meriva!)

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Has always been nice to drive. Could have done with PAS though, heavy work to park. Easy cruising on the motorway, even in its twilight years.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Acceleration slow, cruising nice. No stranger to fast lanes.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

It blew a head gasket at 52,000 mls, fixed under extended warranty. Since then only flat battery has let us down. Idle speed fluctuates especially when hot, maybe that's where all the petrol went. Did three successive long trips to France with a roofbox.

Still looks modern and as up to date as some newer cars. Get nearer to ours though and you can see it's had a hard life.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very nice suspension, a bit wallowy on country lanes, but great elsewhere. Seats always been comfy and very adjustable. My 6ft fits it fine.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Never had it tested, though C/L motors don't last and cost a lot to fix (so we didn't!)

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Can't tell, never used them for service, but just bought Network Q used Meriva so I hope they live up to expectations.
