Other Vauxhall Astra (2009 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Nice car for somebody of my age.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it but its not got the wow factor of previous cars.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not...I havent really bonded with it like previous cars. If I was going for another vauxhall it would have to be at least an astra gtc or a vxr.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not sure.. probably looking at an Audi A4, BMW 3 series etc.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,695

When did you buy the car?

    August 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Great deal for a 2& 1/2 year old car with 6k miles. especially with top diesel engine.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Great price for a car 2&1/2 year old car with 6k miles.

    What was the dealer like?

Great until I got the keys. Dealer valet scratched the roof of the car and I didn't notice until I got home ... they sorted it but it required another trip to them. Dealer forgot car manual and took 2 months to send . They lost my locking wheel nut key so took another few months to get that.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Nice to drive, not the best car iv driven but can feel partially sporty on back roads, the engine really goes when you want to. Apparently its not comfortable in the back due to the sport suspension but I dont sit in the back.

    What's it like to park?

Feels light to park which is nice, however it can be hard to judge where the edges of the car are and thats from a tall persons point of view.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Same things as the dealer section. Plus quite worrying is that the car has now done 16 k miles and apparently needs new front pads and discs at around £250.

What's most practical about your car?

Great MPG on long distance. Had 59 mpg on my 50 mile commute to work a few times.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Elec Handbrake with Hill start assist...great, because on a hill you dont need to hold the car on the clutch as the brakes stay on for 2.5 seconds after you come off the pedal. And ESP ... saved me in the snow.
