Other Vauxhall Corsa (2006 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

The car is safe and reliable on one hand, but smart and sporty on the other hand. Just like most people, a mix of characteristics.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

The three-door version in black with alloy wheels looks smart and sporty. Have had one neighbour ask if I wanted to sell it, which must be a positive.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, but would sacrifice sporty looks for practicality and five doors next time. Would also go for bigger engine or diesel next time for additional performance.

What are you likely to buy next?

Will wait until new Corsa comes out and see what improvements have been made. Wait a year until prices drop a bit and then buy one.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £8,000

When did you buy the car?

    October 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Dealer was selling a batch as a special edition and was selling them cheaper than Vauxhall were selling with a discount to their workers.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It was on special offer, but was looking for a small hatchback at time.

    What was the dealer like?

Very good, friendly and efficient. Car was well prepared. Gave comprehensive instructions on all aspects of car.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

In terms of confort and refinement it is like driving a car from one or two classes up.It feels firmly planted on the road. The 1.2 engine is not particulary fast and the accelerator is heavier than an equivalent Ford, so you need to press hard to get it going which adds to the feeling of sluggishness. Once up to speed it will cruise all day at 85 (on the continent of course). Fuel consumption has averaged 43 miles to gallon in mostly short journeys which is excellent.

    What's it like to park?

Steering is light and easy, and controls help to make it no problem to manoeuvre. Visibility can be an issue, especially for short people - the front pillars are beefy, and the rear pillars are thick.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong with it but the front discs are starting to rust and will need replacing at next service.

What's most practical about your car?

Spacious. Being a three door with big front doors it is really easy to get into front, conversely not so good for getting passengers into back or dopping a bag or coat on rear seat.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I love the cruise control on the car which makes it much more relaxing on long journeys. The computer system is informative with regards average fuel consumption, instant fuel consumption, miles to next fill up, average speed, etc. I think the miles to go until need to fill up is really useful.
