  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

My mates thought I was very rich. But I was only 22 and at Uni at the time! Not much really. Those in the know would see a compromise between power, ecomony and luxury.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Friends were very impressed with Sat Nav. Couldn't believe "all this" was mine for £8k. Loads of room and very comfortable. What more do you want?

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would but not a 2.2 The 3.2 is very appealing but also very thirsty. Being only 23 my insurance is a main concern and a 3.2 GSi is cheaper than a 2.6 GSi! Why? These cars are much safer. They have an air of quality about them. Much improved from the Vectra B.

What are you likely to buy next?

An Omega 3.2 MV6 or Vectra GSi 3.2 Having owned two SRi V6s I wouldn't have another. Too many repair bills. Vauxhall sorted the quality by the time the Vectra C arrived. Unless buying an SRi/GSi with perfect history, take care.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £8,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not too bad. Paid more than if I had gone private. Damn good car though. Sold it to my dad now and he wouldn't part with it!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Liked the new look of the Vectra

    What was the dealer like?

Was not impressed with the service of the dealers. They get the money and then forget who you are. But my local Vauxhall dealers are second to none.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

The 2.2 is not too bad. Having had two 2.5 Vectras and a 3.0 Omega it is none to shabby. The only downside is the steering. The car is too heavy to be front wheel drive. In a straight line? not far off the 2.5 but has no where near the cornering ability. If it were rear wheel drive, BMW would have a serious competitor.

    What's it like to park?

Not so easy with the small rear window but not impossible. If you have owned an Omega then they are ok but if not, beware! They are desepively big!

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Had needed new rear shocks after the dreaded speed bumps that seem to be present in most car parks these days. Other than that, nothing

What's most practical about your car?

Huge carrying capacity. There is hardly anything this car cannot transport.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The Sat Nav. My parents don't get on with it because they would rather ponder over a map. This kit is second to none. Gets you there first time, everytime.
