What does this car say about you?

    More money than sense.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone loves this car and are so in awe of it when they ride in it. They can't believe how much I paid for it but equally they have never been in a car like it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes I would. It's practical, fun, cool, not too expensive to run (but not cheap)I had a Golf GTI before and I prefer the Caravelle, in fact I love it, it's my baby ;-)

What are you likely to buy next?

Going to keep this van until it falls apart and when it does I'll buy another or if the kids have grown up I'll get a VW California.

    What price did you pay?

    £28,000

When did you buy the car?

    May 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

I got the Caravelle for 28K, it was top spec and had been owned by VW HQ and had never been used to move people around in the back,at only 6 months old with 7K on the clock I probably saved around 8-10K on a new one. But yes it was still a lot of money.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted a real 7 seater. Liked the image of the VW Bus and wanted something a bit different and cool.

    What was the dealer like?

The usual UK standard dealer, nothing to write home about.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very smooth, powerful and torquey. Most small to average hills it doesn't even change down from 6th as the engine has so much grunt. Put it in Sports mode at the lights and you can drop most normal cars on a standing start!

    What's it like to park?

Easy with parking sensors front and rear. The sliding rear doors mean you don't have to worry about the kids opening doors onto other cars.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

No Faults to date and I've had it about 18 months now. The front tyres were low on the fronts when I bought it but after banging the table the Main Dealer put on new tyres and at £150 a tyre that was worth making a fuss over.

What's most practical about your car?

Very spacious, very smooth DSG auto box, very practical, can fit 7 adults with stacks of room.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

DSG Auto box is essential. Just leave it in Drive 99% of the time and it's perfect, if the roads get twisty and very hilly just pop it in Sports mode and its great.
