Peugeot 306 Cabriolet (94-02) - Review

Review by Parkers on
The classy 306 cabriolet was the drop-top of choice for the mid-nineties sophisticate. Its Pininfarina-styled body looks classy and exudes a south-of-France charm. Not that many buyers are trading up to the 307CC or Renault Megane CC, prices are becoming increasingly realistic. Go for a 2.0-litre if you can, it's a more enjoyable drive than the 1.6.

Performance

Three engines to choose from: a 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0. the 2.0-litre is the better choice, as it's punchy and makes for a better cruiser; the 1.8 is a good engine, too.

Handling

You may notice the body flexing (what car nerds call scuttle shake) - but you'll get this on any small convertible of this age. Good steering, precise gearchanges and a decent ride. Just the thing for lazy summer evening drives.
