Peugeot 306 Saloon (94-99) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 1994 The 306 remains one of the very best small family ranges thanks to its excellent handling and ride, sturdy construction and practical interior layout. It is by no means the most modern car in its class, but it's still a contender. The saloon is rarer to find than the hatchback and estate mad often cheaper, too. 2.5 out of 5 Other Peugeot reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4 out of 5 Performance The saloon has a smaller range of engines than the hatch. 1.9 turbo-diesel is fun to drive, and a far better option than the old-school 1.9D, which is especially breathless in upper gear. d 1.9D can be a bit breathless in upper gear, but the 1.6 (in 90 and 100bhp forms) and 1.8 offer good performance for only a small drop in economy. 3.5 out of 5 Handling The 306 has a light chassis and offers a superb drive. There's an outstanding level of grip and good body control. Cornering is quite flat and the ride is smooth. Precise steering and effective brakes inspire confidence. A good drive and one that's not matched by the latter 307. Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
