Peugeot 307 SW (02-07) - Review

The 307 SW is one of those cars that borrow the lifestyle tag. It's attractively styled, practical, and can hold a couple of extra kids - that's why Peugeot thinks you need one. It also takes the best bits from the 307 hatchback, including a wide choice of engines, good levels of safety and lots of room. Peugeot dealers usually have a good deal on, too. If you don't need the extra seats, then 307 comes as a traditional estate, too.

Comfort

The two extra seats are 307 SW's selling point. But only the smallest children will be able to use them for any length of time. However, there's plenty of legroom for everyone else and shoulder room is pretty good, too. Seats offer support, but aren't as comfy as some rivals. Large panoramic glass roof makes for airy and light interior.

Practicality

The two extra seats in the back eat into the luggage capacity when used, are difficult to access and are only suitable for two children but it is a fairly versatile arrangement. All rear seats can be removed or folded and the second row can house three seats or two if more space is required. Plenty of space for knick-knacks, thanks to a series of cubby holes. Air-conditioned glovebox is ideal in summer for keeping drinks and snacks cool.

Behind the wheel

Plenty of space for the driver, because of the MPV-like proportion. Driving position is highly adjustable and comfortable. The seats are firm, supportive and good for long-distance trips. Pedals are best suited to those with smaller feet and the clutch has a long pedal travel. All the buttons and switches are in easy-reach positions, although some of the switchgear isn't up to the price of the car.
