Peugeot Expert Tepee (07 on) - Review

Large people carriers have often been mocked in the past for being little more than vans with windows. While this might be a little unfair to sophisticated vehicles like the Renault Espace and Ford Galaxy, it's an efficient way of moving large number of people. Peugeot's Expert Tepee is actually based on a van - the Expert. While this means a boxy shape, it also results in good versatility thanks to a flat floor, a choice of lengths and seats for up to nine. Few sacrifices have to be made on board either, as the Tepee comes with most of the kit you would expect on a people carrier. Developed jointly with sister company Citroen and Fiat, the Citroen Dispatch Combi and Fiat Scudo Panorama are near identical vehicles.

Buying new

Comfort models are well below the £20,000 mark, but lack much of the equipment people might be used to in a people carrier and the engine is hard work. Although the Leisure models are more than £20,000, if you need to carry a lot of people in comfort, and plenty of luggage at the same time, we would recommend these models. It shouldn't be too difficult to get some kind of discount too.

Buying used

Beware of high mileage Tepees that might have been used as mini-cabs. These will feel more tired than those that have seen no commercial use. We recommend the 2.0 HDi leisure models, although the 1.6-litre models may be significantly cheaper.

Selling

There's not a huge market for these vehicles, but a well kept 2.0-litre model with some choice options should sell fairly quickly.
