Peugeot Expert Tepee (07 on) - Review

Large people carriers have often been mocked in the past for being little more than vans with windows. While this might be a little unfair to sophisticated vehicles like the Renault Espace and Ford Galaxy, it's an efficient way of moving large number of people. Peugeot's Expert Tepee is actually based on a van - the Expert. While this means a boxy shape, it also results in good versatility thanks to a flat floor, a choice of lengths and seats for up to nine. Few sacrifices have to be made on board either, as the Tepee comes with most of the kit you would expect on a people carrier. Developed jointly with sister company Citroen and Fiat, the Citroen Dispatch Combi and Fiat Scudo Panorama are near identical vehicles.

Safety

Most of the safety systems you can buy on car-based people carriers are available here, but only anti-lock brakes and a driver's airbag are fitted as standard. Electronic stability control, which can help the driver regain control of the vehicle during a skid, is an option along with side and curtain airbags. This is down to the Tepee's van origins - van customers tend only to want the safety equipment they see as absolutely necessary.

Reliability

Peugeot doesn't have the greatest reputation for reliability, but it has improved in recent years. The Expert Tepee has fewer complex electronic systems than other recent models so should have a better chance of staying reliable. There have been a few recalls though.
