Renault Clio Sport Tourer (08 on) - Review

Renault’s Clio Sport Tourer has been designed to appeal to those who need some decent carrying capacity combined with low running costs. Going head to head with cars like Peugeot’s 207 SW and the Skoda Fabia Estate the Clio deserves some serious consideration, not least when fitted to the efficient and smooth 86bhp diesel. In May 2009 the whole Clio range benefitted from a smart new facelift.

Running costs

The frugal 105bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine returns around 64mpg. In fact, all models but the automatic 1.6-litre, are pleasingly prudent. Insurance costs ought to be affordable and inline with the Clio hatchback, while road tax is low thanks to the Clio’s green credentials.

Emissions summary

The estate performs well on the green front. There are a good number of engines with low emissions to choose from. Eco-conscious buyers would be wise to consider the lower-powered 1.5-litre diesel, which emits less than 120 g/kmCO2. The petrol 1.6 has the highest emissions.
