Going head to head with cars like Peugeot’s 207 SW and the Skoda Fabia Estate the Clio deserves some serious consideration, not least when fitted to the efficient and smooth 86bhp diesel. Models get up to six airbags, but unfortunately, Renault has not made ESP standard across the range. Not any more says the French firm insisting it has finally turned the corner for poor reliability. Unfortunately for Renault customer satisfaction surveys like the most recent 2009 JD Power investigation into haven’t yet noted a vast improvement. The Clio ranked in a very disappointing 83rd (out of 100) for satisfaction with owners reporting niggling faults with the car’s stereo and interior.
