SEAT Ibiza Hatchback (08 on) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 23 July 2008 Last Updated: 01 December 2010 SEAT has spiced up the Ibiza with a distinctive new model from July 2008 boasting a roomier, better quality interior and a simplified model range. It ranks among the best in class for interior space and practicality while those sharp lines in the styling also promise an engaging drive. SEAT has dumped its Essence, Reference and Stylance model name strategy, which began in 2004 and returned to the familiar S, SE and Sport grades which are far less confusing. However, it's perhaps remiss in these environmentally-conscious times that the lower emission versions are only available in lower specification equipment grades. In October 2010 an impressive 1.2-litre TSI engine was added to the line-up offering an excellent combination of economy and performance. 4.5 out of 5 Other SEAT reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4 out of 5 Buying new It might be possible to negotiate a small discount, but the SE and Sport in particular are well equipped for the money. If you have a smaller budget it might be worth asking for money off air conditioning on the 1.2 S as this would make it more desirable on the used market. If you're after an Econetic you'll struggle to get any money off as these are very popular. The easiest model to come by will be the 1.4 SE, although 1.2 S models will be cheaper. Some of these 1.2 models will come with air conditioning chosen as an option, so make sure you know what you're looking at. The most economical model is the 1.4 TDI Ecomotive which is also free to tax. If you're after a 1.6 TDI, this wasn't introduced until July 2009 so the earliest examples will be on an 09-plate. The fact that it's roomier than before could make it tempting for someone used to driving a larger car but looking to downsize into something cheaper to run. The Ecomotive models have huge appeal thanks to their amazing economy and free road tax. Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
