Overview

This is not only the most powerful Leon that SEAT has ever produced, it’s the most powerful SEAT yet. In terms of the performance versions of the current Leon range, this Cupra R model sits at the top above the standard Cupra, which in turn sits above the Leon FR. The Leon Cupra has always been known for its sportiness but this Cupra R version is even more powerful.

This R model uses the same engine that’s under the bonnet of the Volkswagen Golf R and the Audi S3. It’s a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 261bhp and 350Nm of pulling power significantly more than the standard Leon Cupra. However, just like the Cupra FR and the Cupra it comes with an electronic ‘XDS’ system that mimics a limited-slip differential to reduce understeer and improve grip.

So is the Leon Cupra R the king of the performance Leons? Read on to find out more.
