Skoda Fabia Hatchback (00-07) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 2000 Fabia is another VW Group success story and further strengthens Skoda's reputation as a quality manufacturer. The styling divides opinion. It's well equipped, has a smooth ride and is cheaper and roomier than Volkswagen's own Polo. Some early models have minor quality issues, but overall it's well built and good value. 3.5 out of 5 Other Skoda reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 3.5 out of 5 Performance Of the small petrol engines the four-valve-per-cylinder versions are significantly better to drive than the two valve units although these will suffice if you're undemanding. The 1.2 is great for around-town driving, with a great-sounding engine, and is fine for short motorway trips. Turbo-diesel units are fantastic, especially the 130bhp vRS engine. SDI very slow. Steering is light and easy fine around town and on the open road. Good brakes and a confident gearchange. vRS is a genuine hot-hatch alternative.
