Skoda Octavia vRS (01-05) - Review

Review by Simon Harris on
The Octavia vRS put Skoda on the hot-hatchback map in 2001 with an estate model following in 2003. Sharing components with the Mk IV Volkswagen Golf, using Volkswagen Group's 180bhp 1.8 turbo engine as well as the know-how of Skoda's skilled chassis engineers the Octavia vRS turned out to be a high performance bargain and a thoroughly enjoyable drive.

Equipment

Large rear spoiler, 17-inch alloys, stainless steel exhaust, brake calipers painted in Skoda’s famous rally green, part-leather seats, and leather-wrapped steering wheel/gear knob/gaiter were all standard on top of what you'd expect to find - air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors and ABS. A CD autochanger was fitted in addition to a cassette player. Extra safety kit (side airbags, ESP) were options, as were xenon headlights, parking sensors and cruise control.
