Skoda Octavia vRS (01-05) - Review

Review by Simon Harris on
The Octavia vRS put Skoda on the hot-hatchback map in 2001 with an estate model following in 2003. Sharing components with the Mk IV Volkswagen Golf, using Volkswagen Group's 180bhp 1.8 turbo engine as well as the know-how of Skoda's skilled chassis engineers the Octavia vRS turned out to be a high performance bargain and a thoroughly enjoyable drive.

Safety

Fairly safe when tested in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) with a four-star rating out of five. Driver and passenger airbags, ABS and child-seat preparation were all standard features. However, side airbags, passenger airbag deactivation switch and potentially life-saving electronic stability programme were all on the options list.
