Skoda Roomster (06 on) - Review Review by Simon Harris on 12 June 2006 Last Updated: 23 February 2011 The bold and distinctive Roomster is a small family car that stands out from the crowd. While not everyone may be a fan of the styling, it's certainly different and also helps maximise room inside. Its party trick is a clever rear compartment which offers immense flexibility between passenger and luggage space. The rear seats can slide and recline; any of the three individual seats can be folded or removed; plus the middle seat can be taken away and the two outer seats slid inward giving extra room for two passengers. Minimum luggage space is already good with the rear seats in place but becomes van-like with the removed. A Scout version from mid-2007 adds 4x4-like looks with body cladding and a higher ride height, but without four-wheel drive. 4 out of 5 Other Skoda reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 4 out of 5 Running costs The Roomster range starts at less than £11,000 and represents great value for money, while all the engines are economical, especially the 1.2-litre petrol and all three diesels. Insurance ratings are very low starting at group 2 for the 1.2 Roomster 1 (later S) model and going up to 5 for the more powerful engines. Depreciation is steady as the car's practicality keeps demand high. * based on most recent data Estimated fuel cost for 10,000 miles per year Unleaded £1,252 - £1,705 * Diesel £957 - £1,209 * The estimated fuel cost figure is a guide to how much this model will cost to fuel each year, so you can compare between cars.
