Subaru Impreza Saloon (00-05) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 2000 Best known for the high performance WRX STi versions, this Impreza is recognised for being great to drive with strong performance. The top versions are certainly impressive with masses of power and superb handling. However, refinement and finesse are in short supply and although these models are undoubtedly quick, they're not very comfortable for passengers. The standard 2.0-litre Impreza is a little lacklustre in terms of performance, but has a smoother ride and still drives well. All models come with four-wheel drive giving excellent traction, especially in the wet. This model was launched with the controversial round headlamps which found few fans. Later it was facelifted with more angled headlights. 3.5 out of 5 Other Subaru reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 4 out of 5 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Evo VIII (03-05) Comparatively cheap(ish) thrills, amazing pace, robust and reliable engine Not very practical for a saloon car, expensive running costs Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Alfa Romeo 156 Saloon (97-05) Italian styling, great to drive, strong diesel engines, sporty cabin Reliability issues, firm ride, average interior build quality Read full review 4 out of 5 Audi A3 Hatchback (03 on) Supreme build quality, wide choice of engines, upmarket styling, refined on the move Not as good to drive as some rivals, modest standard kit levels Read full review Find other saloon cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
