Suzuki Alto (09 on) - Review Review by Dan Harrison on 18 March 2009 Last Updated: 06 June 2011 The Alto is a small car that’s designed to cut costs to the bone. It’s cheap to buy and even cheaper to run. Those on a tight budget will appreciate its exceptional fuel economy, low insurance costs (it's in group one) and cheap road tax. The Alto also feels robustly built, while the interior boasts a reasonable level of equipment. What it does lack, however, is the 'fun factor' that you get with so many other small cars. The Toyota Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugeot 107 are cheap, but very cheerful, while slightly more expensive options like the Ford Ka are in a different league. The Alto is built to a budget - and feels like it. 3 out of 5 Other Suzuki reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery Also Consider 4 out of 5 Citroën C1 (05 on) Cheap to run, great fun to drive, nippy petrol engine, fits in the smallest of spaces Limited range, tiny boot, noisy on the motorway Read full review 4 out of 5 Hyundai i10 Hatchback (08 on) Cheap to run, peppy engines, enjoyable to drive, decent equipment levels, practical and robust interior Automatic version underpowered, steering feels rubbery, ride on the firm side Read full review 3.5 out of 5 Kia Picanto (04-11) Cracking value, economical engines, five-doors as standard, cheap to run, reliable Not as clever with space as other small cars, mediocre safety rating Read full review Find other hatchback cars Car Valuations Find used car prices with Parkers accurate car valuations.
