Toyota Celica Coupe (94-99) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 1994 This generation of Celica - from 1994-199 - was never an out-and-out sports car, it is more of a grand tourer, and it appears both expensive and outclassed now. The entry level 1.8 helps, but its handling and performance are well off the Fiat Coupe's pace. A car for the driver who wants to cruise quickly and reliably in relaxing style. 3 out of 5 Other Toyota reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 3 out of 5 Running costs Reasonable running costs, servicing and parts are not much more expensive than an Avensis. Insurance is group 12 for the 1.8, with the hotter GT only going up to 15 - even the 1990-2000 MR2 is higher than that. The 1.8 offers creditable fuel consumption at almost 36 mpg, although the 2.0 litre still manages over 30 mpg. Depreciation is below class best, but the good ones always in demand.
