Toyota Corolla Hatchback (97-00) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Toyota tried very hard indeed to give this generation of Corolla a personality, hence the bug eyed styling. Also the rear light clusters are different for every model. It didn't really work - this Corolla is now considered as bland as every model that went before it. Only the sporty G6 attempts to inject some youth appeal.

Running costs

On the whole quite keenly priced on the secondhand market, now that it has done the majority of its depreciating. Servicing and parts costs similar to other smaller Toyotas with insurance starting at group 7. Economy is good on the 1.3 at over 40 mpg whilst the 1.6s return mid 30s mpg and the diesel climbs back into the 40s again.
