Toyota Corolla Verso (02-03) - Review Review by Parkers on 01 January 2002 There are few Corolla Versos of this generation on the road. This is because the car simply isn't practical enough. Zafira, Xsara Picasso and Scenic all did a better job. Toyota knew it too, and launched an all-new (and rather impressive) replacement within two years. 3 out of 5 Other Toyota reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 3 out of 5 Performance The 1.6 is just about up to the job of hauling Corolla Verso's large body around. For a bit more urgency, go for the 1.8 VVT-i that's borrowed from the MR-2 and Celica; the downside is it's rather thirsty. Diesels are a bit rough, but give useful frugality. 3 out of 5 Handling Pretty good considering its size. Steering is quite accurate, gearchange is slick and the suspension copes well with twisty roads while soaking up bumps and potholes on A and B-roads. It cruises happily on the motorway.
