Toyota Previa (00-05) - Review

Previa is one of the MPV world's grandees. It was originally launched in 1990 and was one of the first purpose-built people-carriers on the market. The current model went on sale in 2000, with a space-age look, better practicality and, most importantly, a diesel engine. Ten-year-old examples still fetch upwards of £2000 - an indicator of how highly regarded they are.

Comfort

Previa's a big car, but wind and road noise is well suppressed and the engines are smooth. The seats are supportive and perform well over long journeys.

Practicality

Comfortable armchairs in seven or eight-seat configuration. Plenty of space especially in the front and middle rows, plus generous luggage room. No fewer than 18 cubby holes and cup/bottle holders to keep everything neat inside.

Behind the wheel

All the major instruments are located in the centre of the dash. Comfortable seats and a natural driving position, with plenty of adjustments and good visibility.
