Toyota Previa (00-05) - Review

Previa is one of the MPV world's grandees. It was originally launched in 1990 and was one of the first purpose-built people-carriers on the market. The current model went on sale in 2000, with a space-age look, better practicality and, most importantly, a diesel engine. Ten-year-old examples still fetch upwards of £2000 - an indicator of how highly regarded they are.

Performance

2.4 four-cylinder petrol engine is gutsy but refined with good acceleration and nippy around town. Both the 2.4 and newer 2.0 D4-D diesel can easily sustain high cruising speeds.

Handling

Surprisingly agile and easy to drive but finding parking spaces big enough can be a problem. Can be driven enthusiastically as grip is good It's best on the motorway where it’s a superb high-speed cruiser.
