RAV4 is one of the best used 'soft-roaders'. It's pricier than most, but offers good on road manners, a choice of bodystyles and decent performance. And being a Toyota, it's very well built.

Comfort

Lots of room up front, but in both the three and five door, space is tight in the back. Toyota have installed cheerful materials and an interesting dashboard but it falls behind other Toyotas in terms of quality.

Practicality

The boot is big, especially with the rear seats folded, but the sill is very high. Decent-sized glovebox, but few other storage areas.

Behind the wheel

Good driving position, giving a commanding driving position. Good view of the road ahead. The dash looks dated against current soft-roader offerings.
