Toyota Yaris Verso (00-05) - Review

Review by Parkers on
Yaris Verso delivers functionality and value for money in equal measures. Unfortunately, it looks like the hatchback of Notre Dame. Shame, because it's good to drive, surprisingly economical to run and should prove utterly dependable. As a tall mini-MPV it packs as much flexible load space as possible into a small car. The down side is an appearance that turns anyone who looks at it to stone.

Running costs

Cheap to buy, holds its value reasonably well, sips fuel (especially the D-4D) and sits in low insurance brackets. Servicing is competitive and parts are reasonably.

Emissions summary

Yaris is an environmentally friendly model. With an average of 151 g/km CO2 and 47mpg across the line-up, its emissions are relatively low for a supermini estate. However, it's worth noting that the frugal diesel brings down the average and gives buyers the choice of a low-emission model. Diesels typically produce less CO2 than petrol engines with similar power outputs. Eco-conscious buyers should consider the 1.4-litre diesel, which is one of the greenest models in the range.
