Vauxhall Agila (00-07) - Review Review by Parkers on 02 March 2006 Although very similar to the Suzuki Wagon R+, the Agila has some key differences that means it's more than just a Suzuki with a Vauxhall Grille. Firstly it comes with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engines, whereas the majority of Wagon R+s are 1.3s, had different equipment levels and trims. It makes an effective urban runabout, but is outclassed on the motorway. 2 out of 5 Other Vauxhall reviews Summary Facts & Figures Equipment Driving & Performance Comfort Costs Safety & Reliability Buying & Selling Also Consider Company Car Info Owners' Reviews Gallery 2 out of 5 Performance The choice of a 1.0 or 1.2 litre petrol engines in the Agila differs from the Suzuki Wagon R+ (although a 1.2 has been available in the Suzuki from 2005), and the smaller yet more refined units are nippy around town but struggle at high speeds. The 1.0 12v feels underpowered due to the Agila's relatively heavy body; the more powerful 1.2 16v unit is adequate, but it needs to be worked hard to give its best. Also, due to the boxy, non-aerodynamic design, it can struggle in high winds or in adverse weather conditions. Outclassed on the motorway, the Agila is out of it's depth when taken out of the city, but competent if you keep to its strengths.
